What does God say about the Bible?
The Bible is more than just 1 book. It is a collection of 66 different books, written by many different writers. It is also more than just a normal book. It is God’s revelation to us. It is the primary way that the invisible God has chosen to communicate to people. While there are many different religious books, the Bible is different from all the rest. It reveals itself to be the Word of God. Theologians refer to this as ‘self-authentication’. When you read it, it will cut you to the heart like no other book can.
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Consider the following things the Bible writers say about it.
God inspired men to write it
2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
The Holy Spirit moved men to write it
2 Peter 1:20-21 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
It is supernatural, in that the glory of God shines through it
2 Peter 1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts.
